I am directed to acknowledge the receipt
from your
office of a copy of a telegram, dated 12th instant, from
Sir Henry Blake, Hong Kong, to the Secretary of State,
Colonial Department, relative to the insufficiency of the
garrison at Hong Kong, owing to the despatch from that
place to Taku, under War Office orders, of the Head Quarters
and 1 Company, Welsh Fusiliers, and to acquaint you in reply
two
that the regiments of Native Infantry are under orders from
India for garrison duty at Hong Kong, and their early arrival
may be looked for.
